February is suuuuuuuch a blah month for me. I crave the sunshine and real warmth on my skin. It’s a daily pep talk to myself that it’s almost March which means warm-ish weather is on the horizon. Along with the rest of the world it seems, the funk has been extra bad this time. I read an article on how so many are feeling like they are hitting a wall… the pandemic wall. It’s true. Running on adrenaline since March of 2020 (add in a wedding) and you are never at rest like we once were. It’s wild.
However, despite the funk, I wanted to share with you some of my favorites!
We have slowly been updating our bedroom in anticipation of our new bed and bed frame that should be delivered in March. We have done a paint refresh, added new curtains and even new carpet as all of the above were in need. I chose to keep with the moody feel in the bedroom that we already had but wanted a color that fed off of the fabric of the new bed and allowed for pops of color in smaller ways. We went with Urbane Bronze from Sherwin Williams and – I AM IN LOVE.
Honestly, while I was painted the room I was starting to freak out. Was I painting the color of dog $h!t on our walls!? Its a grey-brown color and it’s perfect. It’s so perfect that I have since refinished a small piece of furniture that resides in our bathroom in the same color annnnnnd incorporating it into an additional bathroom refresh that is currently underway. The color is a gem if your home supports this color palette.
We talked back in January about how bad my skin had gotten. Then I introduced products from The Ordinary that changed my world. Because of my success, I wanted to try a face mask. I try to do a face mask weekly as a refresh and reset. I since tried this peeling solution. Like the rest of their products, it is budget friendly and a quick process. This Peeling Solution helps with skin congestion, irregularities and aging. A triple win. I use this once a week for about 10 minutes to help refresh my skin along with my other favorite Ordinary Products.
We had a plant in the corner of our living room that just got to be too much. And as we have been working on our bedroom, this faux tree was too much for that little corner… so switching things around and shopping my own home landed the faux tree where the overgrown plant was. In our bedroom the base couldn’t be seen as it was hidden by a chair, but now it needed something extra. Baskets are always a great option for storage, hiding things or making things look bigger/different. Faux tree bases are typically not good. I added the Large Basket for the tree base and the small basket for blanket storage. These were an investment but these also have the most versatile use.
I love the extra texture these baskets bring to the room!
With the snow melting, I have been bringing out the kicks and putting the boots away! Not ready for flats yet, but I got these Air Force 1’s a few Christmas’ ago and I am still smitten. Currently they are my go to shoe with it still being chilly out but no snow. A classic sneaker is always a great choice.
I have slowly been framing things around our house that have memories for us. Not just photos but textiles and such. Framebridge is SO GOOD at what they do. We had a wedding gift framed by them back in December (plan is to hang this in our laundry room soon) but I now have a pile of things I want to frame for art purposes in our home. They will also print digital images for you, frame it and mail it all to you. How cool is that! A KM Print shop piece is perfect for something like this as well.
We merged two adult homes (both owned) into one. That means we have tools and things of that nature EVERYWHERE. I needed a spot to put it all for my sanity. Things were in totes and in shelves and cabinets everywhere. We waited for this to go on sale and it DID! My tool organization dreams are coming true!!
We have things all put together but need to really go through it all when the weather gets nicer and make it extra pretty inside. We also under estimated the size of the boxes and therefore I got to ride open with a ratchet strap holding down the trunk and extra breeze on one of the coldest February days. Lucky Me!
As I have gotten older, I want clean, classic pieces and minimal or no logos. If it has a logo to be seen, it’s likely a knock against it. Hoodies and Sweatshirts fit right into this motto. I honestly don’t care what the tag says. Is the style clean and classic? Is the quality there? What is the price tag? 2020 was a year of lounge wear so it’s at the top of mind! I have my classic Aerie pieces (amazing lounge wear) and my favorite Abercrombie sweatshirt, but now, Old Navy has these adorable cropped sweatshirts with the perfect little flare to them! I bought 3 🙃 and wear a size Medium for reference.
