No secret. I love bread.
Ever since we have been stuck inside I’ve been wanting to try to make my own bread. It only took me ten months, but I did it and I LOVE IT!
There is something about a good crusty loaf that you made with your own two hands. Bonus is that ‘s cheaper than your basic loaf at the grocery store and tastes 1000000x better. So let’s share!
Here is my Dutch Oven Bread Loaf
1 1/2 Cups of warm water
1 Packet Yeast
1/2 tablespoon fine grain salt
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
Heat water in microwave for 30-60 seconds. Be sure to make sure the temperature does not exceed 100 degrees as it could kill off the yeast. If you need a double check, you can toss a meat thermometer in the water to be sure.
Add salt and yeast and whisk together.
Once water, salt and yeast are mixed, add to flour in large bowl. Mix together until sticky.
Then, cover with towel and let rise for 2-3 hours.
Once rising is complete. Heat oven to 450 degrees with Dutch oven inside and lid on. This will get the Dutch oven warm and toasty for the bread.
Use parchment paper and sprinkle with flour. You can then transfer the risen loaf from the bowl onto the flour and work to form loaf. Once formed, flip the loaf with floured side up and in center of parchment paper.
Transfer the formed loaf and parchment paper to Dutch oven to cook. Add lid and cook in 450 degree oven for 35 minutes. Remove lid and return to oven for an additional 5-10 minutes.
Isn’t she beautiful!
Simple and delicious.
