Christmas Season is in full force and I finally feel like I have finished the decor despite having the tree up for two weeks already. I asked you all on Instagram Stories if I should try out a new look this year on the tree and you all were all in!
This has been our look since 2015 with a splash of a little extra every year as the decor pile has built up, but I was in need of a change (a look at 2019 and 2018). I am drawn to the darker colors rather than the bright red that everything comes in. I did some searching and found some rich colors at Michaels for new ribbon and with some inspiration on Pinterest, we landed here!
We still have some additions to make over the years, but you have to start somewhere! I am all for making what you like work within your own constraints of time, budget, space and fill in any other factors you may think of. This worked for us this year and I am SO pleased with the end result! Its classic, yet simple.
In addition to the darker colors, we added in the orange garland (step by step tutorial here on that) and then if you follow along, you know that I got frustrated and had to walk away from the tree so I didn’t lose my mind and found a simple solution for $1 at Michaels! It took some time and tweaking but I truly love where the space has gone.
Despite the love for decorating, Christmas is such a short window so I like to limit the time and money spent on more. It’s just more. I like it clean and easy. We have our tree and mantle type space for the stocking and the rest is SUPER MINIMAL. I sprinkle in some little trees throughout (use Command Hooks to hang) and simple wreath on mirrors and a center piece to our table spaces and that’s really it!
In the future I would like to bring wreaths to the outdoor windows for extra cheer, but for now, this suits us perfectly and I will enjoy the pretties for the rest of the month!
